On July 26, 2025, the Mill Community received a visit from acting President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, accompanied by First Lady Janja, representatives from the ministries of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Finance; Cities; Entrepreneurship, Micro and Small Businesses; Management and Innovation in Public Services and Carlos Vieira, president of Caixa Econômica Federal, in addition to other federal, state and municipal authorities. The delegation was present to participate in the ceremony announcing a housing solution proposal aimed at families in the Moinho Favela.
According to information from the Federal Government, the plan foresees the relocation of 900 families. Each family unit will be able to choose a property worth up to R$250,000, according to the criteria of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program. While the moving process is completed, the families will also receive rental assistance until the housing contract is formalized.
On the occasion, the president and other authorities visited the social and educational project of the Alliance of Mercy, Center for Children and Adolescents (CCA) Oratório São Domingos Sávio where they were welcomed with a performance by the choir of children and adolescents served, singing the song “Trem Bala” and received from student Emerson Cauã, a symbolic gift with a picture painted by the students and the historic edition of the Magazine of the 25 years of the movement.
Father Evandro Torlai, president of the Alliance of Mercy, gave a blessing to all those present.
Representatives of the Alliance of Mercy participated in the meeting, including Bia Hauptmann (Director of Institutional Relations), Renato Limongi (Administrative Superintendent), Élida de Freitas Fernandes (Manager of the Oratório São Domingos Project), as well as employees, collaborators and beneficiaries of the project.
