Last Friday, September 26, Alliance of Mercy employees gathered for a day of training that focused on two essential dimensions of institutional life: integrity in action and care for people.
The initiative, which brought together approximately 45 employees from various areas—including administration, legal, human resources, communications, technology, resource mobilization, finance, and operations—was more than a training activity. The meeting was part of the Alliance's internal ongoing training calendar and sought to deepen the values that underpin the institution's mission, also in their daily work lives.
Ethics and empathy on the same path
The program was divided into two complementary moments. In the first, the lawyer Dr. Marina Prado Leite Simões, specialized in Compliance, Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Internal Investigations and Business Law, conducted training on the Anti-Corruption Policy of the Alliance.
In the second, the psychologist Rosana Menezes addressed the importance of welcoming and attentive listening in tune with the Yellow September, a suicide prevention campaign. The combination of the two themes, which at first glance seem distant, proved to be an intentional choice and deeply consistent with the institutional culture.
"The idea of uniting compliance and mental health arose from the realization that these two worlds are closer than they seem. Talking about integrity also means talking about people—and an ethical environment can only be sustained when there is empathy, acceptance, and emotional awareness.", explains Dr. Marina.
Culture that goes beyond the rules
The purpose of the meeting was to show that acting ethically and caring for people are part of the same cultural commitment: build a safe, humane and sustainable environment.
"The combination of training and awareness-raising sought to reinforce that integrity and emotional health go hand in hand in everyday life. Following rules strengthens processes, but welcoming people strengthens culture.", highlights Marina.
This holistic approach is also aligned with the Alliance's charismatic mission, which seeks to bear witness to God's mercy in all aspects of life—including daily work. Therefore, training spaces are not limited to meeting technical or legal requirements, but seek to transform environments and relationships.
Faith in the corporate environment
One of the most memorable moments was the showing of an excerpt from the series The ChosenThe scene, which addresses themes such as empathy and purpose, provoked deep reflections on the connection between mental health and integrity.
The attentive silence of the participants and the exchanges that arose afterwards showed that ethics is not just a set of rules, but a human attitude. “Reception, responsibility and compassion are also part of compliance, not just as a rule, but as a culture”, reinforced Marina.
Commitment that transforms environments
More than a one-off event, the meeting was part of a continuous process of training and institutional culture that the Alliance has sought to cultivate among its employees.
By bringing compliance and emotional care closer together, the institution reinforces that the social transformation it announces to the world also begins at home—in the way people work, interact, and care for one another.
"Integrity and care go hand in hand. Complying with rules strengthens processes, but welcoming people strengthens culture. And it's this combination that makes Aliança a humane, ethical, and sustainable environment.", concludes Dr. Marina.
