Festa Junina celebrates childhood at CCA Padre Pio

On Saturday, June 14, the Padre Pio Children and Adolescent Center (CCA) of the Alliance of Mercy held a June Festival for those assisted by the project. The event aimed to value childhood and strengthen community ties through a moment of coexistence and joy.

Children and teenagers were able to taste typical dishes such as caldo verde, canjica, hot dogs, green corn, various cakes, paçoca, coconut candy, peanut brittle, candies and lollipops. The idea was to provide everyone with a festive experience, even for those who face vulnerable situations and do not usually participate in events like this in their routines.

During the event, a volunteer photographer accompanied the celebration and recorded the moments experienced by the children, their families and the CCA team. The images portray the coexistence, sharing and dedication of the educators and volunteers involved.

CCA Padre Pio

CCA Padre Pio has been operating since 2010 in the Parque de Taipas neighborhood, in the northwest of the city of São Paulo. The unit serves 180 children and adolescents aged 6 to 14 years and 11 months outside of school hours. The work is carried out in a region of high social vulnerability and focuses on strengthening bonds and developing the social and personal skills of those served.

What is a CCA?

The Center for Children and Adolescents (CCA) is a social assistance service that offers socio-educational activities to children and adolescents in vulnerable situations. CCAs work outside of school hours and seek to ensure the strengthening of family, social and community ties.

Through workshops and projects, participants broaden their worldview, develop a sense of belonging and begin to recognize their own value. Educators act as emotional and educational references, contributing to the development of more aware, participatory citizens with greater access to culture and education.

The Alliance of Mercy maintains the CCA Padre Pio as part of its commitment to human promotion and evangelization in the social and existential peripheries.
