Casa Restaura-me promotes weekend of care and social inclusion

Last weekend, Casa Restaura-me, in São Paulo, held two events aimed at the homeless population. On Saturday, November 23, the Social Action 2024, which offered a wide range of free services. On Sunday, the 24th, it was the turn of FESTPRARUA, a cultural event promoted in partnership with the Human Day Institute, which had the participation of more than 900 homeless people and around 280 volunteers.

During the 2024 Social Action, services such as men's and women's haircuts, manicures, makeup, legal services provided by the Public Defender's Office, dental guidance, nursing care, sports activities and book donations were offered. In addition, a lecture on mental health, held in partnership with CAPS, provided essential information for participants.

On Sunday, FESTPRARUA transformed the space of Casa Restaura-me and its surroundings into an environment of cultural welcome. Workshops in partnership with institutions such as SESC and the Picture Gallery provided activities such as caricatures, letter writing, making clothes for pets and caps. A stage hosted musical performances throughout the day, while participants had access to games and distribution of clothes, shoes, accessories and personal hygiene kits.

The event also provided legal and psychological assistance services and referrals with the support of SP Human Rights Secretariat and the Employment Support Center (CAT). In the food area, coffee, water, cookies, cotton candy, ice cream and lunch were served.

The events reinforce the role of Casa Restaura-me, one of the Alliance’s Coexistence Centers, in offering dignity and promoting the social reintegration of homeless people. More than just meeting basic needs, the Centers encourage participants to recognize their potential and reconnect with their families or seek shelter in recovery programs.

The House Restores Me continues to expand its social impact, strengthening partnerships and actions that contribute to a qualified exit from the streets and a more dignified life for those it serves.

Casa Restaura-me is a Community Center located at Rua Monsenhor Andrade, 746 – Brás – SP, and serves an average of 530 people per day with reception, coexistence and various activities for adults living on the streets.
