The Children's Education Centers (CEI's), are projects belonging to the program aimed at children and adolescents of the Associação Aliança de Misericórdia, and offer free and comprehensive access to education for children from 0 to 5 years and 11 months, whose public- target are residents of vulnerable communities, as well as their families.
Together, they offer access to free, regular and equitable education for 296 children in the Parque de Taipas and Campos Elíseos neighborhoods, located in the city of São Paulo.
The pedagogical project values the potential of each student, so that they expand their culture, develop knowledge and skills, experience values, learn to live together and use multiple languages in a welcoming, organized, happy and safe environment. And it guarantees respect for the dignity and rights of children, considering their individual, social, economic, cultural and ethnic differences.
The Centro de Educação Infantil Misericórdia I, the oldest existing center of the Associação Aliança de Misericórdia, was created in 2004, and this year completes 17 years offering love, welcome, security and education.
It currently serves 130 children and their families, the majority of whom live in situations of social vulnerability, in large, low-income families, according to data gathered at the time of enrollment.
It is located in the Parque de Taipas neighborhood, a peripheral region in the north of São Paulo, in an area that lacks resources and access. Therefore, the presence of the CEI is of great importance to the residents, who place a lot of trust in the professionals.
The pedagogical proposal values humanized care, where the child is seen as a entitled and capable being. Families responsible for children find a safe and welcoming space at CEI. And its employees receive continuous training with the objective of offering children a quality education.
